Today’s the Day – Time to Vote in the EU Referendum
There’s been plenty of robust debate building up to the EU Referendum. In the last couple of months there has been much to think about and a range of points of view to take into account. Even in our own office at Integrating Solutions there are differences of opinion. It’s something that has got families and work colleagues engaged across the UK.
So, how are you going to vote? Are you going to vote?
For most people, we appreciate that it’s a difficult decision. There are a lot of different arguments to weigh up and take into consideration. But it is one of the most important decisions we, as individuals have been asked to make in the last 40 years. Yesterday, many businesses came out on the side of Remain saying that leaving will damage our prospects for the future. There are other voices in the business world that disagree and believe we could be stronger if we freed ourselves from the shackles of EU legislation.
The result of the EU Referendum on Friday will have some big impacts on our future, whichever way it goes. If we vote to leave there is undoubtedly going to be a period of uncertainty. If we vote to stay, then there are going to be some equally hard questions to answer about our future and how we make the EU a place we are all more comfortable. While there may be many people celebrating this Friday, there will be just as many feeling lost. The vote is that close.
There has been no doubt that the conversation surrounding a possible Brexit has sometimes descended into a farce with various political parties and personalities taking pot shots at each other. But this is a decision that is going to affect ordinary lives. Whether you work in an office or are a budding entrepreneur, worry about your family and their future, are concerned about immigration, want more opportunity in your chosen industry or simply want the chance to travel freely across Europe, your vote counts.
Many of you, of course, will be glad when it’s over and we can all get on with our lives. It’s a historic moment in UK and European history and you have a chance to play your part. Whether you are an ‘inner’ or an ‘outer’, make sure you get to the polling station today and cast your vote.
